Kinjani Programmes back talent. Kinjani Projects develop solutions — bringing foundations, academia, government, industry and communities into shared frameworks to prove what is possible, safely and in the open.
Both sit inside Kinjani House NPC, our Section 18A Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) non-profit company in South Africa. They share a pipeline, a network and a standard of evidence — but they do different work.
The Greenhouse and The Venture Lab back people. Wide-funnel reach, bespoke business, science and founder support, then returnable grants and investment for the companies with the most traction.
Projects work on the opportunity itself, not a single company. We work with foundations, academia, government and innovators to advance the feasibility of scalable climate solutions, using a bioregional approach — and publish the learnings so they can be replicated.
Where projects sit
Kinjani House NPC is our South African non-profit company. It carries the non-commercial half of the platform: The Greenhouse, The Venture Lab, science proof points, returnable grants — and Kinjani Projects.
Because projects sit in the non-profit, they can do work that a fund cannot: fund pre-competitive science, hold space for community authorship, convene public institutions, and publish everything learned. Kinjani Climate Fund I is a separate vehicle and invests on its own terms.
Project work is funded philanthropically. If your foundation or agency works on ocean-climate, industrial decarbonisation or a just transition in South Africa, we would like to talk.

Projects are anchored in a specific coastline, catchment or industrial corridor, so the evidence reflects the place it comes from.
Measurement, verification and independent oversight are in place before any experimentation begins. Pilots progress only where safety is demonstrated.
Method, data and process are published for replication. A project succeeds when others can repeat it without us.
